13,600 defendant got bail through virtual court last week
A total of 13,607 defendants have been released in the last seven working days through virtual hearings in lower courts across the country amid ongoing lockdowns. Supreme Court spokesman and High Court Special Officer Mohammad Saifur Rahman told the media on Thursday (April 22nd) morning.
He said that since April 12 (Monday), in the second phase of hearing to prevent corona infection, the hearing of bail and emergency criminal application has started in a virtual manner without a physical presence in lower courts and tribunals across the country. Which continues unabated.
He added that a total of 13,607 people, including 1,349 people across the country, were released in seven working days after disposing of 2,631 applications on April 21.
